Mohawk Valley Success Stories

One of my current goals, as a creative, is to connect with artists that inspire me.

I briefly met Jake Dowker at the end of my first year of college at MVCC, weeks before his graduation from the program. I was blown away by the caliber of work that he was creating. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to work with him. Since then, I’ve wanted to collaborate and create something exceptional.

Jake and I are both MVCC graduates who share the same respect and gratitude for our education and our experiences that have been made possible through MVCC.

Our discussions at many times reminisced over our time at MV. We both felt that when we were in highschool, researching prospective colleges, that MVCC didn’t have a strong online representation of current student or graduate works. Also, for me, there was a negative connotation around MVCC — that if you went to MVCC, you weren’t sure what you wanted to do. It was then that we decided to create a project that countered these issues surrounding the public’s perceptions of MVCC and raise awareness of the exceptional qualities and capabilities that the MV arts programs had to offer.

MVCC has produced some of our area’s leading thinkers, creators, and entrepreneurs. Our goal is to tell these stories in order to inspire, educate, and recognize these accomplishments. Apex Automotive magazine was created by 7 core individuals, 5 of which are MVCC graduates. Watch the video and learn more about Apex Auto Magazine.
